Today we talked about culture — what it is, how many diferent cultures there are around the world and the incredible diversity of culture just in the United States. The homework assignment is a vocabulary sheet and a Cultural Diversity worksheet both of which were completed by many during class today.
Get out and enjoy this beautiful fall we are so blessed with.

Posted by: Jana Duncan | September 8, 2008 | No Comment |Today we began chapter 2 on maps. We did a “Practice Makes Perfect” lab using our skills with latitude and longitude. The homework assignment is to answer the questions on page 39 #1-5. We watched the folks in Florida evacuating for yet another hurricane. Pretty wild weather down there. Isn’t it just beautiful here?

Posted by: Jana Duncan | September 5, 2008 | No Comment |We tested out of chapter 1 today and will start chapter 4 on Monday. The reason we are skipping a few is that chapters 2 and 3 are very much earth science related which we hit hard in 6th and 8th grade. Chapter 4 is an overview of the world’s people, their culture, population densities, forms of government, and international organizations like the UN.
No homework for the students for the weekend. Have a great weekend and get ready for our first full week of school starting on Monday, September 8.

The cooler weather is certainly making it easier to be “cooped up in school.”
Thanks to all the parents for getting the supplies your students need for class. I hear that they are out of book covers in Aberdeen. Maybe they will be restocked by the weekend. The books really need covers as “they just don’t make books like they used to.” H! Ha!

Science on the Move
Posted by: Jana Duncan | August 15, 2008 | No Comment |We have been contacted by Mr. Bob Vanderlinde who is the Science on the Move teacher for eastern South Dakota. The mobile science lab will be in Groton October 8 – 10. This is always a great time for the students do experience a hands on lab setting with equipment that is too costly for an individual school district to purchase. Last year we were able to get all of the grades involved and plan to do that again next year.
